Customizing a Computer Enclosure

No two industrial facilities are the same, which is why finding the perfect computer enclosure can be a challenge. How do you keep your computer safe from theft, humidity, and dust without causing it to overheat? From regulating your computer’s temperature to adding on a secure lock, customizing a computer enclosure may help you keep your equipment as safe as possible.

Customizing a Computer Enclosure

Heating Upgrade

You might need to keep your computer warm if it’s housed in a freezer or a cold outdoor environment. A heating upgrade that provides an internal, thermostat-controlled enclosure heater will keep your equipment at an operational temperature in even the coldest of environments. Using this upgrade, you can strategically place your enclosure where it is most needed without sacrificing the equipment’s performance.

Digital Temperature Display

If your facility’s temperature fluctuates frequently, consider adding on a large digital temperature display to monitor the enclosure’s internal temperature. You can even set alarms that will go off if the enclosure becomes too hot or cold.

Security

Is your computer in a high-traffic area? Are you concerned about unauthorized personnel accessing your equipment? Add a layer of security by upgrading your door enclosure with a lock. You can even store sensitive documents, important tools, or blank checks in a protected enclosure.

Storage

You can increase the storage capabilities of your enclosure by incorporating additional shelves. For better access to your stored items, you could add a fully extending, slide-out shelf. Finally, if you would prefer to store your enclosure above the ground, consider adding a wall-mount shelf system to support your enclosure. Using this tool, you can mount your enclosure on a wall. You could also purchase a base table to create a workstation at the appropriate height.

Air Filtration

In some environments, an additional filtration system may come in handy. If you’re storing vulnerable equipment, tools, or materials in your base cabinet, the extra shielding can protect your enclosure’s contents from lint, dust, debris, and other airborne contaminants.

Sound Absorption

Printers and computers that are used frequently can be loud and annoying for workers who are trying to get their jobs done. Create a pleasant, distraction-free work environment by adding acoustic sound-deadening foam to your enclosure.

Upgrade Your Monitor

There are several ways to customize the monitor on a computer enclosure:

  • Does your computer have a touchscreen? You may wish to modify a standard enclosure to accommodate your touchscreen; our touchscreen upgrade removes the acrylic window of a standard enclosure to give personnel access to the touchscreen. In addition, the monitor is restrained against a closed-cell foam gasket to properly seal the enclosure.
  • Is your monitor larger than most standard models? Consider customizing the size of your enclosure to accommodate the larger monitor. We offer a 19″ monitor upgrade, which increases the width and height of the enclosure by two inches each.
  • Is there a possibility your computer will encounter moisture in its environment? Add a water-resistant splash guard to protect it from damage. You might also be interested in a waterproof keyboard.

Power Upgrade

When customizing a computer enclosure, you can also manage the power distribution and cabling inside the enclosure. If your equipment could benefit from such technology, consider adding a power upgrade with a front-mounted power switch, a surge protector, and a long industrial power cord.
