A computer enclosure is like a clean room that surrounds and protects your computer equipment, defending it against dripping oils and lubricants, shielding it from dust and abrasive particles, cooling the hot components with modern fans, and allowing it to breathe fresh air. Since space is at a premium on most factory floors, it is important that you measure your equipment carefully, checking that it can fit inside your chosen enclosure without occupying excessive space. Measuring for an enclosure is very simple, especially when you use the guides that we’ve supplied below. Simply grab a tape measure, a pen, and a piece of paper, and let’s get started.
When measuring for an enclosure, be sure to hold your tape measure at the very edge of the equipment and try to get as exact a measurement as possible. Below we’ve listed instructions for how to measure a central processing unit, a monitor, a printer, and a keyboard. For some enclosures, you will only need to measure one piece of equipment; others will require the measuring of multiple pieces of equipment.
Simply measure the keyboard width. Most DustShield enclosures will accommodate keyboards up to 20.25″ wide.

All of the following enclosures utilize industrial plastic that is 3/8″ thick to ensure maximum structural stability, and they offer NEMA 12 protection. Some of the enclosures allow for monitor upgrades, in which the enclosure size is increased to accommodate a larger monitor. In addition, for some enclosures, CPUs with larger dimensions will require a custom, built-to-order enclosure.
Speaking of which, all of the maximum sizes listed below apply to standard products. If your equipment won’t fit within a standard product, don’t worry. Our team can work with you to design and fabricate an industrial enclosure that matches your equipment’s size flawlessly and meets the demands of your environmental specifications.
